Abstract

School-age children experience very fast physical, intellectual, mental and emotional growth. In Indonesia, nutritional problems in school-age children occur due to low energy intake (carbohydrates, protein, and fat) indirectly caused by low knowledge, especially knowledge about balanced nutrition. Based on this, community service was carried out by providing education about balanced nutrition to school-age children. Community service through providing education related to balanced nutrition was carried out offline in July 2021 at the Mizan Amanah Orphanage Dormitory, Ciputat Tangerang. The target of this community service activity is school-age children who live in dormitories with an age range of around 7-12 years totaling 11 people. The material presented contained the importance of implementing the "4 pillars of balanced nutrition" and "Tumpeng of balanced nutrition". This community service activity in the form of educational activities aims to provide an understanding to school-age children regarding the importance of balanced nutrition needs for school-age children which are visualized in the balanced nutrition plan. (TGS) and Guidelines for Balanced Nutrition. This community service activity is carried out with the help of the media in the form of posters and a challenge game for courage. To evaluate educational activities, pre-test and post-test were carried out before and after being given balanced nutrition education, there was an increase in target knowledge of 37.2%. Tangerang. This education is expected not only to increase children's knowledge but also to change behavior so that the knowledge gained can be applied in everyday life.
