Abstract

Pregnancy is defined as fertilization or union of a spermatozoa and ovum and followed by nidation or implantation. Every pregnant woman will experience a process of body adjustment to pregnancy according to the stage of the trimester that is being lived. The first trimester is the beginning of the trimester which causes various responses in pregnant women. The most influential response in pregnant women is nausea and vomiting. Nausea and vomiting in pregnancy is known as emesis gravidarum. Changes in the gastrointestinal system are none other than the influence of hormonal factors during pregnancy, the influence of high estrogen causes increased gastric acid secretion and salivary gland secretion, causing nausea and dizziness / headaches in the mother, especially in the morning (morning sickness). . The purpose of this community service is to provide information to all pregnant women who experience nausea and vomiting in the first trimester at the Pattingalloang Health Center, Makassar, to consume emprit ginger to relieve nausea and vomiting. This community service activity was carried out by direct counseling to pregnant women in the work area of ​​the Pattingalloang Health Health Center and carried out on April 26, 2022 with 18 pregnant women experiencing nausea and vomiting in the first trimester. The results obtained from this activity were that all first trimester pregnant women who were present at the time of the counseling were very receptive to the education that had been delivered and some even directly applied the use of emprit ginger steeping as the main solution in dealing with first trimester pregnant women
