Abstract

One alternative to meet iron needs can be done by consuming vegetables that contain iron in the diet. Iron is found in vegetables, including spinach (Amaranthus spp). Leafy green vegetables such as spinach are sources of nonheme iron. Cooked spinach contains 8.3 mg/100 grams of iron, adding that the iron content in spinach plays a role in the formation of hemoglobin. The purpose of this community service activity is to provide information to all pregnant women at the Antang Raya Makassar Health Center to consume green spinach leaves during pregnancy to increase hemoglobin. Counseling is done by collecting pregnant women after that the delivery of the material and discussion continues. The activity was carried out on November 20, 2021 with the number of postpartum mothers visited, namely 8 people. The results obtained from this activity are that all pregnant women who we provide counseling receive the education that has been conveyed and some even directly apply the use of green spinach leaves as the main solution in increasing hemoglobin during pregnancy, Keywords: education, green spinach leaves, hemoglobin and pregnant women.
